PReS-FINAL-2129: Whole-body versus localized magnetic resonance imaging in the assessment of juvenile dermatomyositis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction MRI represents a promising tool in the assessment of disease activity in juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM). Watersensitive sequences are very sensitive to the presence of inflammation and have the potential to support diagnosis, guide muscle biopsy and monitor treatment response. So far, all MRI studies in JDM focused on pelvic and thigh musculature. Whole-body(WB)-MRI screens the entire body with the advantage to evaluate much larger areas of muscles as well as subcutaneous fat tissue.

PReS-FINAL-1013: Magnetic resonance imaging as a non-invasive tool to assess muscle edema in juvenile dermatomyositis. Return to normal after treatment
Introduction Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM) is the most common idiopathic inflammatory myopathy in childhood, a systemic vasculopathy that usually affects skin and skeletal muscle but also can affect gastrointestinal tract and other organs. Diagnosis is based on Bohan and Peter’s criteria and the goal of treatment includes control of skin and muscle symptoms and prevent disease complications. S...
متن کاملPReS-FINAL-2010: Predictive value of whole-body MRI in juvenile dermatomyositis
Introduction One of the major challenges in the management of juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) is to accurately assess disease activity in order to optimize therapeutic strategies. Whole-body(WB)-MRI enables a reliable analysis of the site (skeletal muscle, subcutaneous tissue, myofascia) and magnitude of inflammatory process throughout the entire body. By providing an accurate estimation of the ...
متن کاملPReS-FINAL-2343: Cartilage thickness of the knee in juvenile idiopathic arthritis. comparative assessment by ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging
Introduction The functional disability experienced in JIA is primarily caused by the degeneration of the osteocartilaginous structures due to the inflammatory process in the synovium. The ability to visualize the inflammatory process and the following osteocartilaginous degeneration is therefore of great importance in pediatric rheumatology. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may currently be reg...

متن کاملAssessment of Organ Specific Iron Overload in Transfusion-dependent Thalassemia by Magnetic Resonance Imaging Techniques
The consequence of repeated blood transfusions in thalassemia is iron overload in different organs. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a reliable, non-invasive and accurate method for iron detection in various tissues, hence the introduction of MRI has revolutionized the management of these patients and improved the life expectancy of them. Cardiac MRI T2* has a profound effect not only on est...
